Below is an update on the Garden from Lou Taft.

[clearboth]Good Morning ECG Gardeners,

A special thanks to all the workers who came out yesterday afternoon…it is amazing what we got accomplished! Lee P.  and Van L. were able to weed, spread dirt and cover two of the north beds and we were able to empty the pallets in that part of the garden.  You can really see how Mary C.’s garden is growing now!  Diane H., Susan S., Charlie A. and myself concentrated on getting two of the western beds weeded, covered with soil and prepared.  This was after they cleaned up some weed piles and tidied up around the compost bins.  Nancy B. and Barb J. transplanted the rosemary plant to the southeastern corner of the garden, prepared and planted the corner herb garden and also hauled soil to prepare the bed in which we planted some pollinator plants.  Many other little chores were accomplished through all their hard work!  THANK YOU again!

I added some water to the cisterns so we should be good for the week…hopefully we will get rain soon.  I can remember some storms in the past around Thanksgiving.

The new soil must be helping…the gardens look really healthy and things seem to be growing like crazy.  I am going to be harvesting some lettuce this week for sure.

I am attaching some photos…one is of the vermicomposting class from Wednesday and the rest of the “worker bees” from yesterday.  The next workshop will be Wednesday, December 12th at 1:00 p.m. on “Plant Propagation” and will be presented by Patricia Porchey.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and see you in the garden!
