Our Three Veterans Memorials Could Use a Little Help

We are very grateful to our local Foundations, volunteers and County parks staff for their assistance in designing, constructing and maintaining three areas dedicated to our Veterans. The Patriot Plaza at the Sarasota National Cemetery (see photos below) located on Clark Road is a great example of what can be accomplished for our Veterans and their families.

We have two other Veteran sites that could use a little help. I believe all our parks, our beaches, our ballfields, our playgrounds, our natural areas and all our recreational events/activities are important to our community. BUT, Veteran facilities are just a little more precious to our community because of what they represent. The County staff is doing a super effort in maintaining our Englewood Veterans Memorial (end of Dearborn) and the Patriots Park in Venice (on US41).

Still, we could use a little more help policing the parks, picking up trash, pulling weeds, etc. If you have an interest as an individual or know of a group willing to “sponsor” a Veterans site, please let us know. We can be reached at
